any way to upgrade/replace a laptop’s 3D video card?
I have a 2-year old presario 2500 laptop, with a 3d video card. This video card has become almost obsolete when I try to run newer games and applicaions. Is there a way to replace it with a newer one?

Yes, there are many ways. First of all, start by thinking. Why am I replacing an antique video card? Then, go to the source. It’s a surprise for ya, baby.

Replace yes, in case of failure. But upgrade your two year old laptop’s video card, no. Newer laptops support MXM (nVidia) or Axiom (ATI) which are SUPPOSED to allow a standard interface to the video card for laptop manufacturers. For example, the 6800 Ultra in Inspiron XPS Gen 2 laptops is supposed to be replaceable with the new 7800 video card. But that laptop you have, no. And in general, it will always be more difficult or even impossible to replace a laptop video card, depending on how a manufacturer implements it.

Yes, it is very possible to replace your video card. Your nearest computer service station will help or take it to the dealer from whom you bought it.
But your problems could be less that an obsolete graphics card. Just try updating the graphics driver. Try installing DirectX latest version. For this a technician will be able to help. Just let him see your computer.
