Can I use 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 400 (PC2 3200) Notebook Memory in my IBM R50 Thinkpad Notebook?
IBM’s website indicates that the R50 (1831) supports:
Memory
64-bit Double Data Rate (DDR) non-parity SDRAM memory
PC2700 at 333MHz
Two 200 pin SO-DIMM memory slots, one slot is pre-populated with 256MB or 512MB, leaving one socket available
Supports up to two 1GB SDRAM SO DIMMs
Supports maximum memory up to 2GB
I have been told that this memory will work… it’s about half the price of DDR PC2700.
Thanks for your help…

It won’t work as well as it’s supposed to. Motherboard requires the RAM chip to run at PC 2700. Your chip is 3200. Two different speeds.
