Virtual memory isn’t physical memory and you can use more of your hard drive space to increase the size Virtual Memory. In windows you can add virtual memory by increasing the size of your page file.
This setting can be accessed through Windows XP by
Right Click on My Computer and Choose Properties.
Click ADVANCED tab.
Under Performance click SETTINGS.
Click on ADVANCED tab under Performance options.
Under Virtual Memory, click CHANGE.
There you have the option of letting Windows manage the Virtual Memory or you can set your own virtual memory size.
Change the Minimum and Maximum Page File Size to your preference and click on SET and OKAY. This will require a reboot.
