IBM thinkpad T22 laptop. Machine type 2647. IBM/Lenovo lists max supported SODIMM RAM at 512mb.?
Will it accept one single 512mb RAM chip or MUST it be a pair of 256mb chips? one of the SODIMM sockets is blown so I have only 1 socket available, but i still want to max the SODIMM to its capacity. It would not be worth it to replace the motherboard.
Can I use 1 single 512MB unit or am i absolutely required to split it over 2 chips?
is there any way to bump the RAM value up so it would accept i gb?

If the max RAM for the laptop is 1 GB, then I’d think you could use one 512MB stick. If it says the max RAM is 512MB for the laptop, then you’re limited to 256 MB.
