I will tell you a solution for a similar problem, hopefully it may be useful to all.
If the cursor is stuck/frozen when we use the touchpad it can be solved by the following method.
Switch off the laptop, disconnect it from power, remove the battery and keep pressing the Power switch for 30 seconds.
Then reconnect battery and the external powere in that order and power on the laptop. the cursor will be moving again.
Probably you can try this and let us know.. My laptop was a toshiba satellite series one..
