Powerbooks are the “highend” and have an aluminum shell, the iBooks are the “lowend” have a plastic shell. Apple just released some notebooks that will replace all of the G4 based laptops with intel chips….

The PowerBook is geared more toward business, iBooks are geared more toward students and younger people. iBooks are cheaper, but the PowerBooks have superior components.
iBooks are known for their durability, the plastic case they sport is strong and scratch resistant. PowerBooks look more sleek, but can’t stand as much abuse.
The PowerBooks and iBooks also come in different screen sizes; these differ in specs also so it’s a bit hard to compare them.
If you want more detailed information, try visiting your local Apple Store or Apple retailer, they tend to have comparison charts.
(The new laptop mentioned by a previous poster is the MacBookPro, and it completely outclasses both the iBook and PowerBook in my opinion.)
Hope this helps!
