What is the name of the piece that a screw goes into in a laptop chassis specifically sony vaio?
I need to repair my laptop and i have the screw but the metal piece inside the laptop that the screw goes into is missing and i dont know what to call it to order a new one.

Normally, you have a bolt, which fits into a nut. A screw would not need a nut.

Take the laptop to the dealer or nearest service station or any reputed computer show room, explain your problem to them and they will tell you the name of the part. And perhaps they may even be able to supply you the part.

A screw normally fits into a BORE [suitably deep hole, with its inner 'wall' matching the screw's threads].

well if you have a computer store in your area or a computer department at work ask there and I do feel that Fry’s is the best place if there is that store in your area to get that kinda info from they will help and then sell you the part……most other computer stores that sell Sony products will help if they can
