VLC player, plays on all operating systems, and plays almost every media file and is free

VLC (www.videolan.org/) is good for all types of files (mostly videos) and I like Winamp (www.winamp.com) a lot for audio files.

Depends on if you want to play videos or movies and what format they are in. Of course there is Windows Media Player 10. For MP3’s, I like iTunes. And then you need Quicktime if you want to play mov, mp4 or mpeg4 videos, especially mov files.
It just depends on what you want to do. And a lot of people have suggested VLC media player.

IMHO Winamp is one of the best players out there.
iTunes is good if you play music on your iPod, if you use a different MP3 Player then Windows Media Player is good as the transfer of music is very simple.

definitely vlc media player because you don’t have to download different codecs for every type of file.
