where can I buy an inexpensive linux laptop with 802.11b/g built in?
I’m looking for a light laptop (under 6lbs) with 802.11b/g built in that can run Linux (prefer Red Hat) for a low price (under $1000). I have no problem installing but the components need to be compatible.

Try ebay.com if you are into it, but craigslist.org, the best of online classifieds. Try:

Toshiba has a pretty good compatiblity with linux distros, I use ubuntu on my and the built-in wifi work great. Also ndiswrapper will work on a majority of other built-in wifi card without native linux support.

Here are several vendors who sell Linux desktop and laptop computers, pre-installed and certified with Linspire Linux. Wal-Mart even sells them.
