laptop DIY vidock – Starcraft 2 Ultra Settings

I know this is a crappy off the screen recording, but I just wanted to show the performance of the DIY vidock option in a 3 year old laptop. DIY vidock allows you to connect a desktop graphics card to your x1 express card slot in your laptop. In this case, I have a dell XPS M1330 T8300 @2.4Ghz, 4GB of ram, and I am running the game on my external LCD monitor using a Geforce GTX 460 1GB card running at x1 PCI express. The game itself is running at 1440×900, and has all settings cranked to full (ultra) – For this video, Im just showing a replay so I could hold the camera – (using fraps would most likely decrease performance, and I just wanted to show uncompromised performance on this setup) The FPS will drop if you speed up the fast forward speed, but this is to be expected. Playing a normal 4v4 game at these settings, I average 45-60 fps, with occasional dips to the mid-30s. If things get really crazy, I will drop below 30, but this is rare. I have even experimented with 4xMSAA and 16x anisotrophic forced in the nvidia control panel – and it doesnt take too much of a hit (about 6-10FPS lower on average). The bottle neck here really is loading the textures from the computer to the card, but once the appropriate textures load, the card really shines. Remember, this is all on ultra, if you wish to have higher fps, simply dropping to high will achieve this. DIY vidock is NOT my idea, visit this forum to learn more! forum.notebookreview.com

The Lenovo ThinkPad X301 Laptop Computer. It’s tough, thin, and light. In fact, at only 3.16 pounds, you won’t find a more impressive combination of power and portability. And it offers numerous design flourishes including an integrated camera and digital microphone, a full-size ergonomic keyboard, ThinkLight®, Trackpoint®, UltraNav®, Integrated Fingerprint Reader, and stereo speakers.

India’s $35 laptop hands-on review_ NDTV gadgetguru exclusive

This is an exceptional gadget! The price at which it is promised to be delivered is a mere 35$ (Rs. 1700+). Has 2 Gb RAM, runs on android platform ( which is open source and has massive support for wide scale improvements, addon-developments). I-pad is way too costly as compared to this! and guess what??? it has 2 USB 2.0 ports, wifi, SD card slot, a TV out and what not!! A revolutionary step from INDIAN HRD ministry, in collaboration with IIT and IIST.
