I have an iBook G4, made in 2005 that I would like to use this with (if possible).

I am going to Law School in the fall. While I have had a PC my whole life I just like MACs more. It is going to need to be something portable. I particularly care about display quality and hope to keep it for at least 3-4 years. I am not a gamer but an occasional one is fun. I will use my computer for research, word processor, internet browser, and entertainment center (Mainly music, photos, and video)
I certainly multitask. I’m wondering as to if any new OS are coming out – when is a wise time to purchase a MAC – Where should I get one – and are there deals that I can get? What model Mac should I look at. I am open to a desktop but I would still need a notebook which would then have to be a PC which doesn’t work to well compatibility wise correct?

okay so i have a mac iBook G4 and it says it has
bulit in 10/100BASE-T Ethernet and 56k modem
and ready for AirPort Extreme wirelesss networking (802.11g)

so im installing the AirPort software so does this mean even tho i have a cable connection in my house that if i go somewhere ,like my friends with wireless internet, or a cafe with WiFi…i can connect to the internet for free! or does this not…lol

I have always wanted a mac and at the moment i am in sixth form (I will be getting a MacBook for uni, but at the moment I need a computer). My parents want to replace their computer with a cheap pc after buying a relativly good dell (£700 on sale) I preposed that I no longer used it for much and use my iPod touch mainly for Internet. They have agreed to do a swap where I get a Ipad and my parents get to use my pc. I tried getting a mac when I bought my pc but my parents wouldn’t let me buy one as they thought that macs where too expensive for the specs. The price of the Ipad means they will let me get one. I mainly browse the Internet and will need to write the ocassional essay (my only essay subject is economics which I am dropping at the end of the year). I have a decent cameara and a fair amount of movies and music. Will the iPad satisfy my needs?
Also does the iPad have flash player? Can I edit videos and photos? How indepent of the need for a main computer is the Ipad?

I lost my Imac (given to me by my son) because the dealer who had repaired it said because I had not picked it up (after Hurricane Katrina – I was evacuated to another area and not able to get through by phone to call the computer store). … I returned 2 wks after Katrina to my home, called the computer store about a wk later (had many other things to deal with re my home, etc) …. the owner said he paid someone $25 to take it to a landfill… because I had not picked it up! It had been there less than 30 days (I had been in an accident, had surgery and was unable to get to the store which is in Mobile, AL (I live in MS) — so I am hoping to find a unused Mac notebook to replace what I lost. The owner of the store did not care that legally I still was under 30 days before Katrina. In other words, he sells reconditioned Macs… and mine… he supposedly got rid of – think he sold it…! Where can I find an affordable Mac now?? (heartbroken mom who lost photos, etc of son) …
