Teeny Tiny PC?

I wonder what is the smallest computer out there that is NOT a PDA or palm or whatever. A real PC with real screen, etc, a mini-notebook computer. I would like one about the same size as a hand held portable DVD player, is there such a thing? Costs? Accessories? Costs of accessories? Disadvantages? I suppose ONE is that you can’t type on it very easily. But you could surf. And it would be portable, kind of like an IPOD DVD PC all in one.
Wow, thanks for your input guys! I apologize, I should have mentioned before, there is definitely a budget consideration. 200-300 dollars? Multimedia capabilities…so a disc drive that plays cd’s and dvds and a big hard drive to play games on…and good battery life. I looked into some handhelds, one at Amazon is called Pepper something, would have been exactly what I wanted including cost, but didn’t know about the OS and it didn’t get good reviews for durability.

I do appreciate the support and info so far, please if you have any other suggestions, let me know!

Are there any laptop computers that do NOT have intermittent fan noise? It is driving me nuts on my Toshiba!?

Every minute or so on my Toshiba Satellite laptop, the hard disk light flickers and this is followed by a 2 or 3 second whooshing sound of the fan coming on and off. It seems to happen even when there is no activity, and it is VERY annoying. I’d like like to purchase a new laptop that does not have this feature. Any suggestions?

Brother EP43 laptop typewriter

In the mid-’80s, someone at Brother came up with the idea of making a battery-powered laptop typewriter. The resulting product is small, sleek, lightweight, and easy to use — but was quickly rendered obsolete by the emergence of laptop computers and telecommunications in the late ’80s.

The print quality is fairly good, but the thermal ribbons don’t last long (about 32 pages, Brother claimed) and are expensive. Or you can take out the ribbon and print directly onto thermal fax paper. Some portable computer printers were made using the same mechanism. The printing is slow, but an LCD and memory buffer allows you to keep typing while the printing catches up.
